I’ll be replacing steering components soon, and the kit came with a roller bearing idler arm instead of a typical rubber bushing. I’ve heard ease of steering is improved, but the trade off is the loss of return to center. Worst case, I don’t like it and swap in a “standard” idler arm.

Anyone here have real world experience with one?

I think the Moog Problem Solver one I put on my rx7 was rollers instead of bushing, it was much better overall. Less slop mainly, didn’t notice a loss of return to center (though it’s heavy manual steering so your results may vary).

I guess I should’ve phrased it as reduction of some of the loss of center. It generally seems to be a positive. I think the biggest change in effort for me will be going with a stock wheel instead of the small Grant week that’s on there now.

Roller bearings are usually a lot smoother than a bushing/plain bearing for stuff like that while removing slop . Roller bearings are generally kinda crappy for shock loading / impacts though. So a s long as it’s not for rough 4x4ing I’d say it’ll likely feel better and hold up fine.
